Yellow Dates
Fresh yellow dates, often sold as Barhi dates, are a seasonal treat. Eaten while still yellow and crunchy, they taste lightly sweet and a little astringent; as they ripen to brown they turn soft and caramel-like.
Look for fresh yellow dates in the produce department at Super King Markets during late summer and early fall. Availability varies by store.
