Privacy & Data Practices

Super King Markets ("Super King," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website superkingmarkets.com (the "Site"). This Privacy & Data Practices policy applies to all visitors and users of the Site, including California residents ("you" or "your"). It does not apply to information collected in our physical stores or through third-party platforms such as ShopSK or Instacart, which maintain their own privacy policies. It is intended to be read together with our Terms of Use.

Summary. This Site provides information about Super King Markets. You do not buy groceries on this Site; purchases happen in our stores or through third-party delivery platforms. We use analytics and functional technologies to run the Site and understand how it is used. Our Weekly Ad page includes a promotional feature provided by a third party that loads advertising technologies, which may involve the "sharing" or "sale" of personal information for targeted advertising under California law. Where required, we present a cookie banner that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, we offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" choice, and we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal.

1. Categories of Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers — such as name, email address, and phone number you provide, and online identifiers such as IP address, device and browser identifiers, and cookie or pixel IDs.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity — such as pages viewed, links clicked, store-locator and Weekly Ad interactions, and general usage data.
  • Geolocation data (approximate) — such as the approximate city or region derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation from your device unless you choose to provide it.
  • Commercial and application information — such as shopping-list contents you create and session information generated by our website platform.
  • Inferences — limited inferences drawn from the above to understand how the Site is used. On the Weekly Ad page, third-party advertising partners may draw their own inferences for advertising.

If you apply for a job with Super King, we also collect the information described in Section 7 (Job Applicants).

2. How We Collect Information

You provide it to us. We collect information you enter, for example when you build a shopping list and email it to yourself, sign up for our newsletter or Weekly Ad, submit a contact form, or apply for a job. If you email yourself a shopping list, we use the email address only to send that list and do not use it for marketing unless you separately sign up.

Automated collection. We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to collect usage information automatically, such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location from IP address, and interactions with the Site. We use a third-party website-analytics provider to measure Site usage. Functional cookies remember your preferences (for example, the store you selected) and are necessary for the Site to work; they do not track you across other websites.

Third-party features. Pages may include third-party features such as a map-based store locator, fonts, security tools, and content delivery networks. When your browser loads these features, the provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and set or read cookies. We also use an accessibility widget and a fraud-prevention provider to help secure the Site.

Weekly Ad page. Our Weekly Ad page displays a digital circular through an embedded feature operated by a third party. When that page loads, the feature loads advertising, measurement, and identity-resolution technologies operated by third-party advertising partners, along with supporting analytics and error-monitoring tools. These technologies collect online identifiers, IP address, and interaction data and may be used for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Sections 4 and 5 for your opt-out rights.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve the Site; understand which pages and features are useful; remember your preferences; respond to your inquiries; send communications you request or sign up for; render and measure the Weekly Ad; help secure the Site and prevent fraud; and comply with our legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us run the Site under contracts that require them to use the information only to provide services to us, consistent with California service-provider requirements. These include our website and hosting platform, our website-analytics provider, a map-based store locator, our accessibility widget, our fraud-prevention provider, our email and marketing provider, and the analytics and error-monitoring tools that support the Weekly Ad feature.

Advertising partners (Weekly Ad page). On the Weekly Ad page, the embedded feature allows advertising and identity-resolution partners to receive online identifiers and activity information. We treat these disclosures as "sharing," and in some cases a "sale," of personal information under California law. You may opt out as described in Section 5.

Delivery and shopping platforms. If you choose to shop through ShopSK or Instacart, you leave this Site and those platforms' own privacy policies apply.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

The categories of personal information we "share" or "sell" for cross-context behavioral advertising (through the Weekly Ad page), and the categories of third parties who receive it, are:

  • Categories shared/sold: Identifiers; Internet or other electronic network activity; Inferences.
  • Categories of third parties: advertising networks and demand-side platforms; identity-resolution and data-enrichment providers; and social media and search advertising platforms.

We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

5. Sale/Sharing & Your Opt-Out Choices

We do not sell personal information for money. However, the advertising technologies on our Weekly Ad page may involve "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You have the right to opt out, and you can do so in either of these ways:

  • Use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of our Site.
  • Enable a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We treat a GPC signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser or device.

When you opt out or send a GPC signal, we apply your choice to the advertising, analytics, and measurement technologies used on the Site, including the advertising partners loaded by the Weekly Ad feature. Your choice applies to the specific browser, device, or account where you make it; if you use multiple browsers or devices, or clear your cookies, you may need to opt out again. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, but you may use GPC or the footer link instead.

6. Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Access or receive a copy of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right; if that changes, we will provide the required notice and choice.
  • Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.

How to exercise your rights. To opt out of sale or sharing, use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" footer link or enable GPC (Section 5). To make any other request, contact us using the information in Section 13. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity, and an authorized agent must provide proof of authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Job Applicants

If you apply for a job with Super King, we collect the information you submit through our online forms and through a third-party recruitment platform, which may include your contact details, work history, education, and any information you choose to provide in response to voluntary self-identification questions. Application information is used for recruitment and hiring and is handled separately from the customer information described above. When you apply through our recruitment platform, you leave the Super King site and that provider processes your application on our behalf.

8. Cookies & Your Choices

Where required by law, we present a cookie banner that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, including analytics and advertising cookies. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works. Functional cookies necessary for the Site are always used. To opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising, use the footer link or GPC as described in Section 5.

9. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it. Newsletter and contact information is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion; we keep your consent and opt-out choices so we can honor them. Shopping-list email addresses are deleted after the list is sent, subject to short operational backups. Analytics identifiers are generally kept from about 13 months up to 2 years, depending on settings. Advertising and measurement identifiers set by the Weekly Ad partners are controlled by those providers. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period.

10. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be posted on this page.
