It's Grilling season! Here is a meal idea that's pairs well with your weekend festivities. Easy to make hot dogs that we are sure everyone will love!
1 teaspoon Ketchup
1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
4 large hotdogs (flavor of your choice)
4 tbsp sliced onion (1 onion)
4 slices of low sodium bacon
4 gourmet hot dog buns
2 jalapeño peppers, sliced with seeds removed
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
First prepare your grill for direct medium high heat. Wrap bacon around each hot dog, securing with toothpicks at each end. Coat your grill surface with vegetable oil so the hot dogs do not stick onto the grill. Place the bacon wrapped hot dogs on the grill. Let grill for about 4 minutes while turning each side until each side is cooked. Grill the buns, open the buns and place the grill to lightly toast for about 1 minute. Remove toothpicks and add grilled onions, jalapeños and condiments.
In a separate cooking pan, make the caramelized onions, use 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of onion. Still occasionally for about 5 minutes until desired.
